Artist's Stance

Artist's Stance (2026)

Adobe Illustrator

I personally sought to disparage AI generated content to my peers for the cause of the immediate threats it poses to society, my home town, and my neighbors. I could write and format a whole book about why I hate AI like LLMs and AGI, but this is an artist statement about artwork, so I digress.

Pictured is Reddy Kilowatt, an old, threatening electricity and electrical safety mascot, recently disarmed and evidently struck by the adjacent character, a blue man. The composition depicts pugilism being employed successfully against an armed foe, representative of corporate-backed and corporately facilitated AI. Even with a smile plastered on its face, AI is a menacing foe and does a poor job trying to hide its intentions. Upon viewing Reddy Kilowatt in some of his owners' publications, makes it very obvious why I chose this character to be a killer; he already does that, we just forgot locally because of a similar, more peaceable mascot that appears at local, public holiday celebrations, Willie Wirehand.

The work is a triad. The pugilist is blue, suggesting left wing initiative. Yellow is the color Arkansas would be if voting third party made sense; this makes for a tense backdrop that empowers battle to take place. Red is the color of Reddy Kilowatt, the Republican party, danger, and typical foes.
